The Pat Jones Family YMCA opened on March 12, 1989. Jerry Jones donated 10 acres to the YMCA in his father's name. The Pat Jones YMCA served 3,300 Members in 1989 and 1990. The forethought the Board of Directors had in developing a YMCA on Springfield's South Side, both encouraged further development as well as served a tremendous need of young families living on the south side of town. The original facility had a Gymnasium, 6-Lane Indoor Pool, Aerobics Room, Adult Workout Area, Nursery, and Indoor Track.
Expansion of the YMCA took place in 1997, adding an additional Full-Size Gymnasium, two Community Rooms, a new Cardiovascular Work-Out Area, Group Exercise Area, expanded the existing Track, a new Ladies Locker Room, and Elevator to add accessibility for more people. With the expansion, our YMCA grew to 9,500 Members.
